Technical Requirements for Desulfurization Flexible Rubber Expansion Joints
Technical Requirements:
1.1 The compensator of the flexible expansion joint should be able to absorb all axial and radial displacements of the connected equipment and pipelines under all operating and accident conditions. The compensator should be able to absorb vibrations and prevent the transmission of vibrations along the pipeline.
1.2 All compensators should be designed to be damage-free and leak-free, capable of withstanding a pressure equal to the maximum design pressure of the system plus a margin of 100 kPa, and resistant to the corrosive and abrasive conditions of the conveyed medium. The internal circulating medium is a desulfurization slurry with a density less than 1220 kg/m³, a particle size less than 325 mesh (passing through a sieve), and a pH value between 4.5 and 6.0, mainly containing limestone and gypsum components.
1.3 The body rubber of the flexible expansion joint compensator should be made of wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and acid-alkali-resistant natural rubber or EPDM rubber, and should have UV resistance. The wear resistance index should reach at least 230. The inner layer of the entire expansion joint rubber should have no less than 9 layers of fabric lining, with a pressure resistance of over 1.6 MPa. Normal operating temperature is 80 degrees Celsius, maximum operating temperature: 120°C. And it should have certain UV resistance capabilities. The seller should provide relevant information on the structure, material composition, and performance of the compensator, as well as the maximum expansion volume that the compensator can absorb.
1.4 The limiting rods of the compensator should have sufficient strength to prevent damage when deformed. The limiting rod block is welded to the flange as a whole. It is compressed and filled during installation, and then adjusted for limiting and preventing excessive stretching after installation.
1.5 The carbon steel flanges are pressure-resistant PN1.6, and the bolt hole spacing is made according to 0.6 MPa to ensure the installation size. The manufacturer may conduct on-site surveying during the technical agreement signing period. The distance between the holes on both sides must be based on the on-site dimensions. The installation of the aperture materials partly meets the requirements of the on-site installation standards. The rubber expansion joint flange has a slight convexity of 3-4mm on the outer side, and the bolt holes of the rubber flange are consistent with the flange. During installation, the carbon steel flange is pressed into the rubber flange. Prevent slippage of the rubber flange, enhance the toughness and strength of the rubber flange, and integrate it with the body rubber. The height dimensions of the above flexible expansion joint drawings are based on on-site measurements.
1.6 Rubber joints should be designed to withstand the maximum temperature thermal stress and mechanical stress that may occur in the pipeline, including safety margins under special operating conditions and accident conditions.
Regulations, Specifications, and Standards:
2.1 The design, materials, and manufacturing of the compensator should comply with the relevant standards, industry standards, or introduced standards currently in use. If there are obvious contradictions between these technical requirements and the above regulations, specifications, and standards, the seller should promptly notify the buyer for written resolution.
2.2 During the period from the date of order to the start of manufacturing by the seller, the buyer has the right to propose additional requirements arising from changes in regulations, specifications, and standards, and the seller should comply with these requirements.
Quality Assurance
1.The seller shall have a sound quality assurance system and shall submit a comprehensive quality assurance plan along with the quotation. The seller shall have dedicated personnel responsible for quality assurance activities.
2.The quality assurance plan must specify the following points:
- a. Inspection and control of the seller’s sources of supply for equipment;
- b. Control of technical documentation for purchased equipment or materials;
- c. Control of materials;
- d. Control of special processes;
- e. On-site construction supervision.
3.The design of the equipment shall meet the requirements of relevant standards and specifications, and shall take into account the local environmental and usage conditions.
4.The materials used in the equipment shall be of high quality and suitable for the intended usage conditions. The selection of components or parts shall be based on the principles of technological advancement, maturity, reliability, and safety.
5.The seller shall provide installation instructions and quality assurance methods for on-site construction.
6.The warranty period for equipment shall be 1 year. The service life of compensators shall not be less than 3 years. The warranty period shall be 1 year from the date when the equipment passes the 168-hour commissioning of the desulfurization project and the preliminary acceptance certificate is issued (from signing to acceptance certificate).
7.During the warranty period, if equipment damage or malfunction occurs due to quality issues, the seller shall repair or replace the equipment free of charge.
8.During the warranty period, if the buyer needs to request on-site service from the seller’s personnel, the seller’s personnel shall actively provide on-site service.
9.Desulfurization flexible rubber expansion joints, also known as acid and alkali-resistant rubber joints, are actually a type of product. The rubber is made of EPDM rubber, and the flange material is carbon steel.
