3. PVC Flange Introduction:

PVC flange is a flange plate produced using PVC material. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), abbreviated as PVC in English, is a polymer formed through the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers (VCM) under the mechanism of free radical polymerization reactions induced by peroxides, azo compounds, or exposure to light and heat. Polyvinyl chloride homopolymers and copolymers are collectively referred to as PVC resins.

PVC is an amorphous white powder with low branching, a glass transition temperature of 77-90°C, and starts to decompose at around 170°C. It exhibits poor stability against light and heat, and when exposed to temperatures above 100°C or prolonged exposure to sunlight, it decomposes, generating hydrogen chloride and further catalytic decomposition, leading to discoloration. Its physical and mechanical properties also rapidly deteriorate, necessitating the addition of stabilizers to improve its heat and light stability in practical applications.

4. Introduction to Marine Aquarium Life Support System:

A life support system is a necessity for sustaining human life, providing essential elements such as food, water, air, and heat energy. The key to a life support system in spacecraft is recycling and reuse, as nothing organic can be easily wasted during space travel.

When you step into an aquarium, marveling at the various exotic marine creatures before you, have you ever wondered how these marine organisms obtain the suitable seawater for their survival, maintain vitality within the confined space of their tanks, or how their waste is managed? In fact, behind the vibrant scenes of the aquarium lies an invisible ‘Marine Aquarium Life Support System.’ This system not only produces artificial seawater but also filters out harmful substances from the water, providing the necessary nutrients for the survival of marine life, decomposing waste from aquatic animals, and also monitoring water temperature, water pollution levels, and seawater pH. This system needs to operate 24 hours a day to ensure the continued survival of marine life in the water.

Marine organisms are highly sensitive to residual ozone in water. Experiments have shown that the toxicity of residual ozone results from its ability to deactivate one or more enzymes within the organism. Even at low concentrations in water, residual ozone can cause damage to the retinas and skin of marine organisms. However, ozone has poor stability in water, and a few minutes of retention time or aeration can drive off residual ozone, bringing it to a safe level. Therefore, during the design process, we typically install baffles in the return water tank to aerate and remove residual ozone, increasing water retention time.
