3.Water-Cooled Chiller Unit Introduction:

The water-cooled screw chiller unit is a type of chiller unit where the main components utilize a screw compressor, hence it can be referred to as a water-cooled screw chiller unit. Its chilled water outlet temperature ranges from 3°C to 20°C, making it suitable for various industrial refrigeration processes such as plastics, electroplating, electronics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, printing, food processing, etc., where chilled water is required. It is also used in various central air conditioning projects such as large shopping malls, hotels, factories, hospitals, etc., where chilled water is centrally supplied for cooling purposes.

The water-cooled screw chiller unit mainly consists of a semi-enclosed screw compressor, shell-and-tube condenser, drying filter, thermal expansion valve, shell-and-tube evaporator, and electrical control components.

During the refrigeration process, the compressor sucks the low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant vapor in the evaporator into the cylinder.

After the compressor performs work, the refrigerant vapor is compressed into high-temperature and high-pressure gas, which then enters the condenser through the exhaust pipe. In the condenser, the high-temperature and high-pressure refrigerant gas exchanges heat with cooling water, transferring heat to the cooling water and condensing into high-pressure liquid. The high-pressure liquid refrigerant coming out of the condenser enters the evaporator after throttling and pressure reduction by the thermal expansion valve. In the evaporator, the low-pressure liquid refrigerant absorbs heat from the chilled water and vaporizes, cooling the chilled water to the required low temperature. The vaporized refrigerant gas is sucked back into the compressor for compression, discharged into the condenser, and the cycle repeats, continuously cooling the chilled water.

The chilled water coming out of the unit enters indoor terminal devices such as fan coils and variable air volume air handlers, where it exchanges heat with convection air indoors. During this process, the water temperature rises as it absorbs heat from the indoor air (releasing heat to the indoor air), while the indoor air temperature decreases after passing through indoor heat exchangers and is driven into the room by the fan, thereby reducing the indoor air temperature. The chilled water with increased temperature returns to the unit under the action of the water pump, and the cycle repeats, achieving continuous refrigeration.
