Fan coil unit introduction: A fan coil unit, abbreviated as FCU, is one of the terminal devices in an air conditioning system, consisting of a small fan, an electric motor, and a coil (air heat exchanger). When chilled water or hot water flows through the coil, heat exchange occurs with the air outside the coil, cooling, dehumidifying, or heating the air to adjust the indoor air parameters. It is a commonly used terminal device for cooling and heating.

Based on the structural form, FCUs can be classified as vertical, horizontal, wall-mounted, and cassette types, among which the vertical type further divides into column type and low type. According to the installation method, they can be categorized as exposed (visible) and concealed (hidden). Based on the water inlet orientation, they are divided into left-inlet and right-inlet types.

Wall-mounted FCUs are all exposed units, compact in structure and pleasing in appearance, directly mounted above the wall. Cassette (ceiling embedded) units have more aesthetic air inlets and outlets exposed under the ceiling, with the fan, electric motor, and coil placed above the ceiling, belonging to semi-exposed units.

Exposed units have aesthetically designed shells, equipped with air inlets and outlets, and are installed visibly in the room. Concealed units generally use galvanized steel plates for the shell. According to the national standard ‘Fan Coil Unit’ (GB/T19232—2003), fan coil units are classified into low static pressure type and high static pressure type based on the external static pressure. For low static pressure units, the outlet static pressure at rated air volume is 0 or 12Pa; for units with air outlets and filters, the outlet static pressure is 0; for units without air outlets and filters, the outlet static pressure is 12Pa. High static pressure units have an outlet static pressure of not less than 30Pa at rated air volume.
