1.Introduction to Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical Project:
Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical Co., Ltd. is developing a petrochemical olefin project located in the petrochemical zone of the Gaolan Port Economic Zone in Zhuhai. With a total investment of 1.5 billion RMB, the project centers around a deep catalytic cracking (DCC) unit and includes facilities for feedstock pretreatment, gas fractionation, polypropylene production, dimethyl ether production, sour water stripping, sulfur recovery, and associated utilities and auxiliary facilities.
Established in July 2005 with a registered capital of 100 million RMB, Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical employs nearly 700 people, over 90% of whom hold a college degree or higher. The company is a strategic development platform for Ningxia Baota Petrochemical Group’s investments in the Pearl River Delta and aims to become a major local petrochemical processing and sales enterprise.
Currently, the 200,000-ton/year gas fractionation unit and the 80,000-ton/year polypropylene unit, along with all associated utility projects, are operational. The deep catalytic cracking, feedstock pretreatment, sour water stripping, and sulfur recovery units are under construction and are expected to be operational by May 2010. Once fully completed, the project will have a processing capacity of 6.5 million tons of heavy oil and crude oil, with an annual output value exceeding 40 billion RMB.
Since its establishment in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical has received significant attention from the port area and Zhuhai city government. In March 2009, the Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical olefin project was included in Zhuhai’s “Top Ten Key Construction Projects for Growth and Development 2009-2010.” Local media extensively covered the project, highlighting its role in filling the gap in olefin production in Zhuhai, enhancing and upgrading the industrial structure of the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, and establishing Zhuhai Baota Petrochemical as a flagship enterprise in the region’s private petrochemical industry.
