1.Introduction to the Wastewater System Project at Wuhan Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. New Display Industry Innovation Center:
Introduction of Wuhan Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd.:
Wuhan Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. was established on November 17, 2008, jointly invested by Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (a listed company on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange) and Hubei Science and Technology Investment Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of 1.6 billion yuan. The company is mainly engaged in the design, manufacturing, and sales of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and related materials, equipment, and products. It also provides related technology development, consulting, services, and technology transfer, as well as import and export of goods and technologies.
Introduction of the New Display Industry Innovation Center:
Tianma Microelectronics plans to invest 1.5 billion yuan to establish Hubei Changjiang New Display Industry Innovation Center Co., Ltd. (tentative name, subject to approval by the industry and commerce department). This center will serve as the company’s platform for innovative development in the new display industry.
This investment proposal was approved at the company’s ninth board meeting on July 31, 2019 (voting results: 9 in favor, 0 against, 0 abstentions). The proposal still needs to be submitted for approval at the shareholders’ meeting.
Target investment registered capital: Approximately 1.5 billion yuan; Registered address: No. 8, Liufangyuan Heng Road, Donghu Development Zone, Wuhan City, Hubei Province.
With the advent of the 5G era and the rapid rise of smart cities, the Internet of Things, and Internet Plus, terminal manufacturers have higher requirements for display panels, and the rapid development of new display technologies has accelerated the demand for high-end display products from end-users. The establishment of a dedicated test platform will enhance the company’s research and development technical capabilities and improve its research and development system.
Tianma Microelectronics has been deeply involved in the field of small and medium-sized display screens. According to the company’s annual report, the industrial application of Tianma Microelectronics’ a-Si TFT-LCD technology is very mature. The Xiamen Tianma 5.5th and 6th generation LTPS TFT-LCD production lines have maintained full production and sales in 2018. The products of Tianma’s 5.5th generation AMOLED production line are continuously upgraded, and the first phase of the Wuhan Tianma 6th generation LTPS AMOLED production line project has successfully entered mass production and shipment to brand customers since June 2018.
TFT-LCD, AMOLED, and new display technologies such as flexible displays are all based on semiconductor technology, collectively referred to as semiconductor displays. Semiconductor displays can be defined as display technologies that independently control each smallest display unit through semiconductor devices.
