The Zhuyuan First and Second Sewage Treatment Plants in Pudong New Area were constructed in 2017. Adopting advanced sewage treatment technology including AAO (Anoxic-Anaerobic-Oxic) process, plug flow sedimentation, high-efficiency sedimentation, and deep-bed sand filtration, the designed capacity of the plants is 2.2 million cubic meters per day. The initial daily processing capacity reaches 2.2 million cubic meters per day. The design was undertaken by the Shanghai Urban Construction Design and Research Institute. The project received an investment of nearly 3.9608792 billion yuan. The main components of the upgrade project for the Zhuyuan First and Second Sewage Treatment Plants include the construction of a new sewage pretreatment facility with a capacity of 2.2 million cubic meters per day. This includes the construction of coarse grid and inlet pump rooms, water distribution wells, aeration sedimentation tanks, AAO bioreactors, blower rooms, sludge external reflux pump rooms, sludge storage tanks, sludge dewatering machine rooms and silos, dosing rooms and storage, biological deodorization facilities, substations, and high-voltage distribution rooms. The project scale involves upgrading to a capacity of 2.2 million cubic meters per day, including 1.7 million cubic meters per day for the Zhuyuan First Sewage Treatment Plant and 0.5 million cubic meters per day for the Zhuyuan Second Sewage Treatment Plant (upgrade supplementation). The project design capacity is 800,000 cubic meters per day, and sewage treatment adopts AAO+ plug flow sedimentation+ high-efficiency sedimentation+ deep-bed sand filtration, meeting the Class A emission standards specified in GB18918-2002. Approximately 23 hectares of additional land were used. The total investment in the project is 3.9608792 billion yuan. The completion of the Zhuyuan First and Second Sewage Treatment Plants in Pudong New Area has greatly improved the surrounding water environment and played a significant role in water pollution control and the protection of local watershed water quality and ecological balance.
