1.Introduction of Zhaoqing DJI Sky City Project:
The DJI Sky City project is located in the Liuxiandong Headquarters Base in Nanshan District. As the global headquarters base of DJI, with a total construction area of 241,700 square meters, it is a high-tech industrial giant supported by a giant steel frame, six “cantilevered cuboids,” and steel suspension bridges. The DJI Sky City project was designed by Foster + Partners, constructed by China Construction Fourth Engineering Bureau, and the steel structure manufacturing and installation were undertaken by China Construction Steel Structure.
The unique structure and design of the DJI Sky City project determine its construction difficulty. As a special type of super high-rise project, it features irregularities such as irregular concave-convex, irregular twisting, combination of planes, discontinuity of floor slabs, discontinuity of lateral force-resistant members, and sudden changes in lateral stiffness dimensions.
Foster + Partners designed the DJI Sky City in Shenzhen for DJI, a leading drone and aerial imaging company, with input from renowned architects and designers from China and abroad. After two years of meticulous planning and development, the project aims to further integrate and optimize DJI’s regional industrial layout and achieve resource aggregation and development.
The goal is to change people’s traditional concept of office buildings and create an “aerial community” in Shenzhen, a hub of technological innovation. Foster + Partners proposed a twin-tower scheme, aiming to achieve a balance in the allocation of research and development space, office space, and public space.
The project innovatively applies dozens of advanced construction techniques, utilizes “black technology” such as drones and VR glasses for high-altitude operation safety inspection, strengthens quality control and construction safety management, and strives to create the Guangdong Provincial Quality Engineering Award, the China Steel Structure Gold Award, and compete for the Luban Prize. After completion, the DJI Sky City project will have four major functional areas, becoming another landmark building in Shenzhen.
