1. Introduction to Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant:
Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station is located in Tangxing Village, Haiwei Town, Changjiang County, Hainan Province. It can accommodate the construction of four large-scale nuclear power units with a total investment of nearly 19 billion yuan. It is jointly funded and constructed by China National Nuclear Corporation and China Huaneng Group. The nuclear power project will build two nuclear power units, with Unit 1 planned to be connected to the grid and generate electricity by the end of 2014. The construction of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station started on April 25, 2010. It is the largest, technologically advanced, and environmentally friendly energy construction project in Hainan’s history.
According to Sun Qin, Chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation, the Changjiang Nuclear Power Project adopts mature domestic second-generation improved nuclear power technology, which has reliable technical safety. The single-unit capacity is 650,000 kilowatts, which is well adapted to the demand of the Hainan power grid. Preliminary estimates show that if the nuclear power units operate for 7,000 hours per year, compared with coal-fired units of the same capacity, they can reduce the consumption of standard coal by about 2.6 million tons per year, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 7.8 million tons, reduce smoke and dust emissions by about 450 tons, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by about 1,600 tons, and reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by about 9,700 tons, achieving significant environmental benefits.
On April 19, 2010, the National Development and Reform Commission officially issued the approval document, which means that the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project has officially obtained approval and started construction.
A relevant person in charge of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Company revealed that the National Nuclear Safety Administration has completed all the review work before issuing the construction permit for the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project, and issued the construction permit on the same day. Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project is jointly funded and constructed by China National Nuclear Corporation (51%), China Huaneng Group Corporation (19%), and Huaneng International (30%). One unit is planned to be put into commercial operation in 2015.
Progress of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station: Officially started construction on April 25, 2010 (currently, Unit 1 reactor unit completed dome hoisting on December 28, 2011).

Typically, rubber expansion joints consist of an inner rubber layer, a fabric reinforcement layer (which may include multiple layers of rubberized nylon canvas), a middle rubber layer, an outer rubber layer, and reinforced metal rings or wire loops at the ends. After being molded under high temperature and pressure, these components form a composite rubber tube that is combined with metal flanges or parallel joints.
