The Qinghai-Henan UHV DC Transmission Project starts from the Qinghai-Henan Converter Station in Qinghai Province and ends at the Zhumadian Converter Station in Henan Province, passing through Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Henan provinces, with a total length of 1563 kilometers. The dynamic investment is approximately 23.1 billion yuan, making it the first ultra-high voltage transmission channel specifically built for clean energy export in China and the world’s first ultra-high voltage transmission line project through high-altitude areas.
The Qinghai-Henan UHV DC Transmission Project will establish a high-speed “expressway” for transmitting electricity from west to east, delivering 40 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity to Henan annually, reducing coal consumption by 18 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 29.6 million tons, effectively ensuring the safe power supply in central China.
Connecting the east and west on the front line, Qing and Yu jointly create legends. It is reported that in the future, Zhumadian will play an important role as a key node in the construction of a “day” shaped ultra-high voltage AC grid in six cities including Nanchang, Changsha, Wuhan, Jingmen, Zhumadian, and Nanyang. This will not only meet the basic electricity needs of enterprises, urban development, and residents’ lives in southern Henan, but also provide important energy support for promoting the rise of the central region and achieving greater brilliance in the Central Plains.
