1.Introduction to Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station:
Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station, capable of accommodating the construction of 4 large-scale nuclear power units, with a total investment of nearly 19 billion RMB, is jointly invested and constructed by China National Nuclear Corporation and China Huaneng Group. The nuclear power project will build two nuclear power units, with Unit 1 planned to be connected to the grid for power generation by the end of 2014. The construction of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Station started on April 25, 2010, marking the largest, most technologically advanced, and environmentally friendly energy construction project in Hainan’s history.
On September 2, 2020, the State Council executive meeting approved the second phase project of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power, with a total investment of 39.45 billion RMB. On October 3, 2021, the foundation pouring of the turbine hall of Unit 3 of the nuclear power plant was completed. According to Sun Qin, Chairman of China National Nuclear Corporation, the Changjiang Nuclear Power Project adopts mature domestic second-generation improved nuclear power technology, which has reliable technical safety. The single-unit capacity is 650,000 kilowatts, which is well adapted to the power demand of Hainan power grid. Preliminary calculations show that the operation of nuclear power units for 7,000 hours per year can reduce the consumption of standard coal by about 2.6 million tons annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 7.8 million tons, smoke and dust by about 450 tons, sulfur dioxide by about 1,600 tons, and nitrogen oxides by about 9,700 tons, with significant environmental benefits.
In September 2020, the total investment in the second phase project of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power was 39.45 billion RMB, with a planned investment of 1.8 billion RMB in 2019. The second-phase project plans to build two million-kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power units, with Units 3 and 4 adjacent to Units 1 and 2 of the first-phase project, located at the same site. The unit model adopts the “Hualong One” (fusion version) technical solution, with a nominal electric power of about 1200 MWe per unit. The construction period of a single unit of Changjiang Nuclear Power Phase II is 60 months, with a 10-month interval between the start dates of the two units. On March 9, 2022, at 3:26 p.m., with the completion of the lifting of the third annulus, the first equipment installation operation of the 3rd unit of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant was completed, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent mainline work such as the construction of the internal structure 0m floor of the reactor building and the introduction of subsequent equipment.
From April 22nd to 23rd, 2010, the ultrasonic flow measurement project for circulating water at the Changjiang Three Nuclear Power Station in Fangjiashan, Fuqing, was launched at the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute. On April 25th, the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project started construction, with Li Keqiang making important instructions. On the same day, China Nuclear Concrete Company successfully completed the production and transportation tasks of FCD concrete for the Changjiang Nuclear Power. On October 3, 2021, the foundation pouring of the turbine hall of Unit 3 of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant was successfully completed.
On February 26, 2022, good news came from Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Base. The lower cylinder body of the “Linglong One” steel containment vessel was successfully lifted and installed, completing the milestone plan 46 days ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for further high-quality and steady progress in the construction of small reactor projects. At 4:18 a.m. on May 15, the first module of the steel liner for the reactor building of Unit 4 of the second phase project of Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power was lifted and installed, and this successful lifting will lay a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the key construction path of the internal structure of the reactor building for Unit 4.
