1.Introduction to Yanqing Ice Rink in Beijing’s Yanqing District:
Yanqing urban area will add two ice rinks, namely the 87,000 square meter Beijing Ice Sports Project Training Base and the 1,830 square meter Indoor Ice Rink at the Exhibition Center. The Ice Sports Project Training Base is scheduled to be put into use in May this year. In 2018, Yanqing District built two outdoor ice rinks in Xiadu Park and Guihe Donghu Lake, each with an area of over 10,000 square meters, mainly used for ice skating training for primary and secondary school students and workers, and are now open to the public.
This year, Yanqing urban area plans to build two large-scale ice rinks. One is the Beijing Ice Sports Project Training Base, located on Hubei East Road in the center of Yanqing, with a total area of 87,000 square meters, including six standard ice rinks and eight standard curling lanes, which can meet the training needs of professional ice sports such as ice hockey, curling, and short track speed skating. It is expected to be completed and delivered for use in May this year. The other is an indoor ice rink located at the Badaling International Convention and Exhibition Center in Yanqing urban area, with a total area of 1,830 square meters, currently in the ice-making stage, and is scheduled to officially open on January 19. “The Beijing Ice Sports Project Training Base is mainly used to undertake national and Beijing ice sports professional training and will be open to the public during idle hours. The indoor ice rink at the exhibition center is the first indoor skating rink in Yanqing District. While undertaking the training and competitions of short track speed skating and figure skating, it will provide skating facilities for skating enthusiasts throughout the year, allowing them to skate at their doorstep,” said Ma Zhiyong, deputy director of the Yanqing District Sports Bureau. In addition to these two ice rinks in Yanqing urban area, the Yanqing District Education Committee will also use the vacant land in several schools to build nine ice rinks this year for youth ice skating training and experience in Yanqing District.
