Our country’s first high-generation OLED panel line, the LG Display Guangzhou OLED project, officially announced its commencement of production. This is the world’s largest and most advanced 8.5-generation OLED production line. The project, located in the Huangpu District of Guangzhou Development Zone, has a total investment of approximately 46 billion RMB. It is expected to achieve a monthly production capacity of 90,000 panels by the end of 2021, with an annual output value of about 20 billion RMB. At that time, the flat-panel display industry cluster led by LG Display in this area will achieve an annual output value of 120 billion RMB, propelling Guangzhou to become a global OLED strategic base.
With a monthly processing capacity of 90,000 glass substrates The LG Display Guangzhou OLED project commenced construction in July 2017 and took more than two years to complete. The project covers an area of 190,000 square meters, with a building area of 560,000 square meters. The main factory building is as high as 94 meters and has a total of 9 floors. Adhering to modern, intelligent, and high-tech design concepts, the factory has constructed a million-level clean production workshop and deployed globally leading intelligent production lines.
The project’s glass substrate size is 2200mm*2500mm, with a maximum processing capacity of 90,000 panels per month. The main products are large-size OLED panels for 4K ultra-high-definition 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch televisions. The project’s Phase I investment is 35.5 billion RMB, and Phase II investment is 10.5 billion RMB. It is planned to achieve a monthly capacity of 90,000 panels in 2021, with a panel production capacity of 4.984 million pieces per year. Currently, a cumulative investment of 28 billion RMB has been made. With the completion of the 46 billion RMB investment, the annual output value will reach approximately 20 billion RMB.
Guangzhou becomes a global OLED strategic base With further economic development and increasing consumer purchasing power, China has become a core market driving the development of new technologies and products. Market research firm IHS data shows that in 2017, China’s television market maintained a 25% market share, ranking first in the global television market. IHS forecasts also show that in 2019, China’s OLED TV market will continue to grow rapidly, with an expected increase of 115.5% compared to 2018, making China the only region in the world with OLED TV growth exceeding 100%.
