The proton therapy project of Hefei Ion Medical Center is planned to be completed in 2019. It is expected to cure more than 2,000 cancer patients annually, achieving a “curve overtaking” in the field of tumor radiotherapy in Anhui Province.

To implement the results of the regular meetings between the prime ministers of China and Russia and the national and provincial “13th Five-Year Plan” development outlines, according to the spirit of cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Anhui Province in the field of scientific and technological achievements transformation, as well as the core task requirements of the national innovation-driven development strategy and the comprehensive promotion of innovation-driven reform pilot projects, in October 2015, the Hefei municipal government cooperated with the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences to jointly build the Hefei Ion Medical Center.

The Hefei Ion Medical Center is one of the seven innovation platforms of Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center.
