Guangzhao Hydroelectric Station is located in the middle reaches of the Beipan River, at the junction of Guanling and Jinglong counties in Guizhou Province. It has an altitude of over 600 meters, with higher elevation in the northwest and lower elevation in the southeast. The terrain is mainly mountainous, with severe erosion in the river valley sections and significant relative height differences. It falls under the subtropical plateau monsoon climate, with a frost-free period of 356 days per year. Serving as the “leading” station of the Beipan River, it is primarily focused on power generation while also considering navigation, irrigation, water supply, and other water conservancy projects. The total area of the watershed above the dam site is 13,548 square kilometers, with an average annual flow of 257 cubic meters per second. The normal water level is 745 meters, with a reservoir backwater length of 69 kilometers and a reservoir area of 51.54 square kilometers. The total storage capacity of the reservoir is 3.245 billion cubic meters, with a corresponding storage capacity of 3.135 billion cubic meters at normal storage level, and a regulating capacity of 2.037 billion cubic meters. It is an incomplete regulating reservoir. The installed capacity of the power station is 1040 MW, with an average annual power generation of 27.54 billion kWh.
