1. Introduction to Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station:

Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station is located in Hongyanhe Town, Wafangdian City. It is the first nuclear power project approved for construction during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period in China. It is the first nuclear power project in China to agree to the standardized and large-scale construction of four million-kilowatt nuclear power units at one time, and it is the first nuclear power station in Northeast China.

On September 20, 2016, Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. held a press conference and announced that the first phase of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project, the first nuclear power station and the largest energy investment project in Northeast China, was fully completed.

The first phase of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project started construction in August 2007. The Unit 1 was put into operation and began generating electricity on June 6, 2013. Subsequent units were put into commercial operation at a rate of one per year.

The second phase of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Project, consisting of two units, started construction in 2015. The project is progressing well, and it is planned to be fully completed and put into operation in 2021.

On February 17, 2013, at 15:09, Unit 1 was successfully connected to the grid, marking the first nuclear power plant in Northeast China capable of generating electricity.

Unit 2 of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station started construction on March 28, 2008, and generated electricity for the first time on November 23, 2013. It met the main conditions for commercial operation on May 13, 2014.

Unit 3 of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station started construction in March 2009 and met the main conditions for commercial operation on August 16, 2015.

Unit 4 of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station started construction on August 15, 2009. On April 1, 2016, at 9:52 am, Unit 4 was connected to the grid and generated electricity for the first time, with a grid-connected power of 52 megawatts, marking the Unit 4 of the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station capable of generating electricity.

On February 17, 2015, Units 5 and 6 were officially approved at a meeting of the State Council Office.

On July 24, 2015, Unit 6 of the Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Station officially started construction. With this, the number of nuclear power units under construction by China General Nuclear Power Corporation increased to 13, maintaining its position as the world’s largest nuclear power constructor.
