1.Introduction to Mianyang BOE:
BOE’s 6th generation AMOLED (flexible) production line project in Mianyang has been officially capped. The project is located at No. 198, Kefa Avenue, Mianyang Hi-tech Zone, and is invested and constructed by Mianyang BOE Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. The new project covers approximately 1,046 acres and mainly includes the construction of core facilities such as Array, OLED, TSP/FLI, EAC/Module workshops, the procurement of 1,018 sets of equipment, and the construction of supporting facilities such as comprehensive power stations, wastewater treatment stations, chemical warehouses (Class A and Class B), chemical workshops (CCSS), special gas warehouses, silane stations, finished product warehouses, resource recycling stations, office buildings (utilizing the already-built park incubation building and public service platform for renovation), and supporting living areas (including 21 shift dormitories, restaurants, activity centers, etc.). After completion, the project will have a production capacity of 576,000 1500mm×1850mm 6th generation AMOLED substrates per year (48,000 pieces per month).
The Mianyang BOE project is BOE’s second AMOLED production line project. Due to faster, higher, and stricter construction requirements, the construction process faces many challenges such as land reserve, environmental protection requirements, complete supporting facilities, and complex geological structures.
BOE’s investment in advanced panel capacity in Mianyang not only directly affects the local economic development but also more importantly attracts upstream and downstream supporting enterprises in the industry to actively settle in, promoting the transformation and upgrading of the electronic information industry structure in Mianyang City and even Sichuan Province. On BOE’s side, the establishment of the Mianyang 6th generation AMOLED production line will narrow the technology and production capacity gap between enterprises and leading Korean companies in the display industry.
On October 28, 2016, the investment of 46.5 billion yuan in BOE’s 6th generation AMOLED (flexible) production line project in Mianyang was officially signed. This project is one of the largest single industrial investment projects in the history of Sichuan Province. At the same time, this production line is also one of the most advanced flexible OLED panel production lines in China. It is reported that the project covers an area of 1,200 acres, with a designed capacity of 48,000 pieces/month. Flexible AMOLED panel products will mainly be used for high-end smartphones and new mobile display products. The project started construction in December 2016 and is scheduled to be put into operation in 2019.
