Project Description:
The 140,000 Tons/Year Polyethylene Project of Yanhua in Beijing is the largest technological reform project under the national ‘Eighth Five-Year Plan.’ It is one of the technical transformation projects in which Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Company expanded its 300,000 Tons/Year Ethylene facility to 450,000 Tons/Year. It is also the only ethylene unit in the country undergoing specialized transformation. The project includes 59 individual projects such as distillation, polymerization, drying, granulation, material storage, and packaging. The length of process pipeline testing and flushing is approximately 70 km, and the installation period is only 16 months, with successful production start-up in a single feed. The completion and commissioning of this project are of great significance in enhancing the development momentum of Yanshan Petrochemical Company, improving the technical level of the enterprise, tapping production potential, saving energy, reducing consumption and production costs, and enhancing economic benefits. The project won the ‘China Construction Engineering Luban Award’ and the ‘Petrochemical Corporation Quality Engineering Award’ in 1996.
Yanshan Petrochemical Company is affiliated with Sinopec Group. In the 1960s, to ensure the supply of finished oil in Beijing, the central government decided to build a modern oil refining base in the southwest of Beijing. The Oriental Red Refinery was completed and put into operation on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the National Day in 1969, and the chemical deep processing unit supporting it was successively completed. On July 20, 1970, Beijing Petrochemical General Factory was formally established, becoming the first integrated oil refining and chemical enterprise in China. After the unremitting efforts of several generations of builders, Yanshan Petrochemical has developed into a large-scale integrated refining and chemical enterprise with a refining capacity of tens of millions of tons and an ethylene production capacity of 800,000 tons.
With Jingbiao oil products as the core, it has successfully built a refining base with a capacity of tens of millions of tons, comprehensively leading the domestic oil product upgrade pace. In January 2017, it successfully completed the supply of Jingbiao VI gasoline and diesel, and actively built a production guarantee base for military oil products, providing the military with high-quality aviation gasoline, aviation kerosene, military diesel, fuel oil, etc., to ensure energy security.
With technological innovation as the support, it is committed to building an ‘integrated industrial chain, high-end product chain, diversified business chain.’ At present, it can produce 94 varieties and 431 brands of petrochemical products, covering fields such as food, packaging, building materials, automobiles, high-speed rail, medical, and agriculture, providing green and high-quality services to society.
With green and low-carbon as the guide, it strictly implements Beijing’s ‘Clean Air Action’ and Sinopec’s ‘Blue Sky and Clear Water’ plan, actively promotes environmental protection governance and environmental monitoring, achieves full coverage of grid monitoring, and full public disclosure of environmental protection data. Through the construction of artificial wetlands, it nurtures a harmonious ecological environment in the region.
